Types Of Roof Safety Systems

With the right roof safety systems, you can take your roof safety to the next level. It is not just about avoiding court cases, fees or risks. It is more about recognizing the value of the lives of your employees and protecting them.

Here are some common types of roof safety systems.

Roofing safety nets

These are a type of fall arrest system. The nets are designed to catch employees if they slip and fall from heights. According to OSHA regulations, you are required to use the nets if you are working at heights, more than twenty-five feet or where you do not have scaffolds, ladders, catch platforms, safety lines, temporary floors, and safety belts.

Roofing guardrail systems

These systems are fall prevention roof safety systems that can be used for both steep-slope roofs and low-slope roofs. Whether you do residential or commercial roofing, these are very important to have. Whilst they serve the same purpose, residential and commercial guardrail systems have one top difference – there are toe boards on residential guardrails to ensure tools are not slipping through the cracks.

Fall arrest systems

You can use these safety systems on both steep-slope and low-slope roofs. These systems are preferred by residential roofers. Fall arrest systems prevent the roofers from falling off the roof by using a harness, anchor and a lanyard. An anchor is usually nailed onto the rafter where the lanyard of the roofer is attached to the ring.

The other end is attached to the harness. This allows the worker to maintain an efficient range of motion when working on the roof.

Conclusion

There are different types of roof safety systems that you can choose for your application and the type you choose depends on what you are doing and your preferences.
